Hello Friends and welcome to my little corner of the internet. My name is Jill Seibert (pronounced Sye-bert, not Sea-bert, everybody gets it wrong), and I am addicted to crafting. My favorite thing is to make jewelry, but I also like to create wall art out of any wood scraps I can get my hands on, sew, and make candles and soap. I started making beaded jewelry completely on a whim about 7 years ago and became hooked right away. Since that first day when I bought a bead kit (at Wal-Mart, of all places) I’ve learned to work with resin, wire, chain mail, and am currently attempting to master polymer clay. I just love to learn new techniques and am always on the lookout for new ideas. I make jewelry for myself, my friends and some I put up for sale in my Storenvy shop, Free Spirit Handmade.
I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, but have lived in central Florida for about 20 years now. I love the beach, the fresh air, the sunshine, the warm weather, pretty much everything about Florida. I live with the love of my life, a diesel mechanic named Kevin, and our three fur babies, Milenko, Knight and Alice.
My two sons are all grown up now but I am blessed to have three more boys to help raise: L is almost 8, an artistic type who’s very quiet until you get to know him; E is 4 ½, a picky eater, very outgoing, who loves monster trucks but hates loud noises; and Z just turned 3. He’s feisty, loves to eat and will try anything, loves to fish and is slightly obsessed with Dora the Explorer.
When I’m not crafting I love to cook, read, and go to the beach or out to the woods in my man’s big ol’ truck. Nothing makes me happier than trying a new recipe, making over a piece of furniture or a whole room for that matter, or to just relax and lose myself in a good book. Biographies and history are my favorite things to read, but I also enjoy a good mystery too. My favorite authors are Edgar Allan Poe, Joyce Carol Oates, Pearl S. Buck, Truman Capote and William Faulkner.
I started this blog to document my journey as I learn new jewelrymaking techniques and to share my creations. I will post tutorials, any helpful hints I discover, sometimes my general musings on life, along with recipes here and there. I hope you enjoy reading along.
